1. The Onion Router Introduction

The Onion Router is a no sign-up cryptocurrency exchange supporting over fifty coins and tokens across multiple blockchains. Users value our focus on privacy, ease of use and minimizing third-party risk, all of which are hard to come by on traditional crypto exchanges. The Onion Router has seen continuous growth since its start in 2025 and is now at an average monthly shift volume of REDACTED USD (2025).

Once a prototype was complete it became clear that The Onion Router could capitalize on competitor inefficiencies and grow with active development, increased functionality, integrations and expanded asset availability. The core team behind The Onion Router has extensive experience working with crypto and specifically crypto exchanges since 2016.

2. The Onion Router Token (TOR)

TOR was created to be the cornerstone in The Onion Router’s current and future incentive programs for users, business partners and other stakeholders. 25% of The Onion Router’s revenue is rewarded daily to stakers of TOR which gives TOR a tangible and measurable value based on The Onion Router’s performance.

3. Distribution

Note - As tokenomics are not yet set in stone. TBA will refer to the Actual Amount of tokens that will be given out, not the % as that is already pre-defined.

The total supply is TBA TOR, which breaks down as follows:

  • STAKING RESERVE - TBA (5%)

    • Distributed Staking Rewards: 0 TOR

    • Undistributed Staking Rewards: TBA

  • TOR Foundation ALLOCATION - (12%)

    • Distributed: TBA TOR

  • Genisis Airdrop - TBA (28%)

    • Distributed: 0 TOR

  • Future Airdrops - TBA (15%)

    • Distributed: 0 TOR *To be confirmed on Amount of Seasons Post TGE

  • Liquidity - TBA (6%)

    • Consumed: 0 TOR

  • Listing & Exchanges - TBA (7%)

    • Consumed: 0 TOR

  • Early Backers - TBA (15%)

    • Distributed: 0 TOR

  • Ecosystem & Growth - TBA (12%)

    • Marketing Spent: 0 TOR

    • Grants Given: 0 TOR

4. Staking

Staking $TOR is not available as of now, and will be available the same day the Official TGE occurs.

When the bonus TOR allocation for staking is eventually emptied, staking rewards will continue to be distributed directly from The Onion Router’s revenue to stakers. This will reduce The Onion Router’s net profits but simultaneously halt the inflow of undistributed TOR, reinforcing TOR’s deflationary design. At this point, staking has completed one of its main missions — to distribute TOR among users of The Onion Router.

Updated metrics on staking can be viewed on the Staking page. Real-time metrics can also be sourced via The Onion Router Dune Dashboard or The Onion Router’s API stats endpoint.

5. Fundraising

The Onion Router successfully completed fundraising for the Seed Round of The Onion Router Token (TOR) in Feb 2025. TBA TOR tokens were sold at $TBA USD generating $TBA USD in seed capital. Buyers of this allocation were a selected cohort of industry thought leaders and entrepreneurs. These funds have been used to support the operational costs of running The Onion Router during the company’s first years.

The Onion Router is free to complete further funding rounds if and when deemed necessary for continued growth. However, the company is currently in good standing economically and has no plan to conduct further funding rounds in the short to mid term.

6. Team Allocation

12% of the total supply of TOR is allocated to the team of The Onion Router. The team allocation is the team own incentive program. This allocation is initially locked. The full Founder Allocation will be unlocked by the 4th year of Main Net Release.

7. Sale of The Onion Router

If a part or full sale of The Onion Router occurs, the proceeds shall be distributed proportionally to the holders of TOR. If such an event occurs, the remaining locked part of the Founder Allocation shall immediately unlock. Any undistributed TOR remaining, specifically within the allocations The Onion Router Fundraising and Staking Reserve, shall be omitted when distributing proceeds of a sale.

8. Other Mechanisms Featuring TOR

The Onion Router has employed TOR as the default token for payout in our incentive programs:

1. Refer a customer By inviting others to use The Onion Router using the automatically generated referral link, users are rewarded with 0.5% of the referral’s total comission value in TOR. This reward is immediately distributed to the referrer once a referral has completed a shift. Referral rewards are accrued in TOR and are visible on the account page.

2. Integration Commission External partners such as wallets or websites that integrate The Onion Router receive their commission in TOR. They can then choose to automatically stake TOR or shift to the desired token once a set amount is accrued. No fee or spread will be applied to this shift.

The Onion Router automatically buys TOR in the market to fund these incentive programs. Thus, no new TOR is being distributed.

9. Security

The majority of TOR is secured in cold storage to greatly reduce associated risks.

The Onion Router Token (TOR) and The Onion Router, the no sign-up crypto exchange, are not available for use by individuals who are citizens or nationals of or resident in the United States of America, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Saint Kitts and Nevis or Syria. Additional information is available at theonionrouter.com/legal.
